I leave for a week in Seattle tomorrow. I had to cash in some aeroplan miles and wanted to see the Coffee exhibit at the Burke Museum at the UW (which I will refer to as the other, other UW… Wisconsin being W primo and Brian’s alma mater, Waterloo, being W secondo), and so here I am. This will be my first visit to Seattle in, gosh, something like 24 years, since my Pacific NW allegiance has always and will always be with my beloved Portland and with Vancouver, with which I have a tumultuous relatonship. Seattle is a big unknown to me, but I’m excited.
I’ll be staying at the ACE Hotel. If it’s even close to as wonderful as the one in Portland, I have a lovely week ahead of me.
Thanks to facebook buds for giving me lots and lots of dining recos. Thanks the many non-buds, but still very cool and helpful people, at askmetafilter and chowhound PNW boards for some more neat-sounding suggestions.
Full report and photothread (via facebook and picasa) up in a week or so. I’m not taking my laptop but instead am seeing how well I can cope with just my new iPod Touch… loaded all my eReader e-book purchases on it (they look great!) and the web browser and standalone web apps (like facebook but not, sadly, wordpress, which behaves shittily on the Touch) should be enough. Or at least a good story.
