Off to da Region

“Da Region”= the Calumet Region of NW Indiana and the southeast suburbs of Chicago. The place of my birth. Going to visit family and also to connect with friends north of Chicago. I depart tomorrow morning (Wednesday) and will be back Sunday night. The weather looks very agreeable for the flight there and for at least the first couple of days, so I hope to get some decent pics of my old stomping grounds. Brian is in Ottawa this weekend but he’s doing his part by taking me to the airport tomorrow.
I’ll miss Remembrance Day observations at Memorial Park near Downtown Calgary, something I’ve been happy to see the last couple of years. I am hoping some Americans ask me about my poppy.
I’m making the perhaps silly decision to not take my laptop and to try to make do, connectedness-wise, with my ipod touch and my cell phone; I’ll also have my camera, which I’ve outfitted with a 4GB micro SD card and adapter so I can pop it out, pop the non-adapted card in my phone, and can upload pics as long as I have wi-fi at my motel. I am pretty sure I do, so this should be an interesting experiment in mobile blogging.
