Vlogging winter solstice, and I have many Angry Birds with which I annoy you.

ONE HOUR until the winter solstice as I write this. As I said on facebook today, “I revel in the certainty.” The winter might become brutal (though it’s been incredibly pleasant so far), this coming semester might have more challenges than semesters usually do, who knows what the future holds but for certain things. I don’t know if I will be alive on January 17, but I KNOW, with absolute certainty, that here in Calgary, on that date, the sun will set, finally, at 5pm. I also love the fact that for all the frustration and the health issues I had last summer, I get  another one; or better stated: we all do. The darkness recedes, the light returns, the sun’ll come out tomorrow and it’ll be in the sky longer than it was in the sky today.

I like that. I love that.

My sabbatical officially ends at at the end of this month and I’ll write some words about what I’ve accomplished on it, before then. One thing I have to mention right now, though, is that I had a paper accepted for a conference in Loughborough, UK in March. I’ll be at the conference specifically the 20-23 and in England likely from Sunday to Sunday, the 18-25. Any advice on practicalities (like trains and eats) in that neck of the woods is welcome. My first time, finally, in that country- really excited.

So this vlog is a little my reflections about the solstice, a little an annoying and hard to see (reflected light kills it) exposé of my interestingly large collection of devices on which I have Angry Birds. The game, I mean.

Happy Solstice!
