I have lots- and lots and lots- of links scattered around my blog to photo albums that I’ve uploaded to, and shared via, Picasa (or “picasaweb,” its URL prefix) but recently discovered that links to picasaweb.xxx.com no longer work. All of my albums, public and non-public, show up at my Google+ profile but redirection there from picasaweb doesn’t appear to be automatic and I haven’t figured out how to do this manually without a lot of extra work. I did update the link in my last post to my Newfoundland album so check it out of you care to.
I uploaded my Newfoundland set using the most recent version of Picasa desktop software and that part of the transition seems seamless but I’ll try to keep on top of other changes in this regard and determine what I have to do. I have lots of friends and family who only keep up with me through this blog and this development it irksome.
Update: Now this is weird. The problem with accessing picasaweb seems to be different for different browsers. I uninstalled Chrome a week or so ago because it was acting up so much. It’s Firefox that won’t find Picasa at all. With IE9 it takes you directly to the Picasa web albums page. With Opera, it redirects you to the album but on Google+, with an option to revert to the old Picasa albums page.
Weird.
Further update: I deleted cookies for picasaweb.google.com under my privacy options in Firefox and everything seems fine now.
