IT'S. ALL. TRUE.

I hate how I have to try and tolerate my not-really-friends' talk about how everything is done in Japan. Thank you, Captain Obvious? Clearly, how things're done in Canada are not going to be how they're done in Japan. Hell, I've probably visited Japan more often than they ever will, and I can honestly tell them that no one -there- is going to give a shit. Who do they think they're trying to fool, trying to reprezent a country they only know about through internet blogs and anime.

I hate how I have to try and convince my friends that they're not being fo-real by eating their rice & fish sauce with chopsticks, and that they, in fact, look like retards. To everyone.

Isn't it funny, Professor Manzo? I'm that girl you had to re-explain what "ethnocentrism" was HAHA

I know you are likely very busy now. Both my kids are in the process of handing in essays and/or take-home exams (not in sociology, I'm not here to beg!) and I had a moment of sympathy for the professors on the receiving end. At least my kids are relatively literate...sometimes...anyway, I digress. My point was that I understand if you don't reply for some time. Also, we're heading south in a day so I won't be here to reply to for a week.

I wanted to ask if you had noticed the 'new kid' on the Western Canada CH forum? Tony_Calgary came out of nowhere so I had a look at his posts. On the Manhattan board he asked in November for help planning a trip for his 3rd wedding anniversary whereas on the Western Canada board he wants advice for a wedding banquet. My post pointing this out was smashed so quickly that my head is still spinning. Maybe it was for a non-CH friend or family member but then you'd think he would have just said that.

The NY posts don't make a lot of sense and he's refused to give info about such things as what part of the city he is staying in. He replied "Manhattan" when people on the Manhattan board asked. They point out the impossibility of getting between some of the places he has included in his tightly scheduled itinerary. He's planning on picking up takeout for a 7 PM plane at 5 PM. I don't think he's going to make that flight. I think it was even a Friday.

I wondered if we have another fellow with a good imagination like the one who wanted to know where to buy different liquor then a few months later asked where to go for his 18th birthday. Is there a sociologic term for this phenomenon? My daughter would likely simply say 'poser' but the term 'cyber poser' would be redundant.

Good luck with the marking. If you assigned papers may all of your students be stars ar English composition.

As long as it tastes good, then who cares? When i lived in the middle east, in the UAE they would put chopped up french fries in the shwarmas, and they were great. Now is that "authentic" or not? Located in the middle east, some of the best shwarmas i have had, but with a british influence, in the end though it tastes good, and it works. I admit though, a huge part of it is the meat as well. I hate when they have to toss it in the microwave here in calgary to nuke it first.

I think I'll go out to Alberta,
The weather's good there in the fall.
I've got some friends that I can go to workin' for.
Still I wish you'd change your mind,
If I asked you one more time
But we've been through that a hundred times or more.

If I get there before the snow flies,
And if things are goin' good.
You could meet me if I sent you down the fare,
But by then it would be winter, nothin' much for you to do.
And those winds sure can blow cold way out there.

Four strong winds that blow lonely,
Seven seas that run high,
All those things that don't change,
Come what may.
But our good times are all gone,
And I'm bound for moving on.
I'll look for you if I'm ever back this way...
